S. 5612 — GME Transparency Act of 2026

This section requires hospitals receiving Medicare payments for direct graduate medical education costs to submit deidentified information on residents' citizenship or immigration status (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, J-1 or H-1B visa holder, or otherwise lawfully present) within 180 days after each fiscal year ends, beginning with the first fiscal year after enactment. It directs the Secretary to report the resulting numbers and percentages to Congress within 270 days after each fiscal year ends, disaggregated by state, and to provide a standardized reporting form.
