S. 5555 — PFAS RAPID Response Act

This section requires the Secretary of Defense to initiate interim remedial actions for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances at not fewer than 100 covered sites within two years of enactment, consistent with CERCLA. It directs timely completion of ongoing interim remedial actions at Department of Defense installations and requires a briefing to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees within 30 days. Covered sites are the installations among the 727 assessed sites whose remedial investigation or feasibility study end dates are delayed relative to the December 31, 2024, baseline.
