S. 5548 — Securing National Security Systems from Chinese Optical Transceivers Act of 2026

This section extends prohibitions on procuring covered semiconductor products or services to also bar covered optical transceivers, effective five years after enactment of the Securing National Security Systems from Chinese Optical Transceivers Act of 2026. It requires the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council to update regulations within three years to apply the same limitations, except for certain proprietary authentication rules, and directs the Secretary of Commerce to assess domestic and allied optical transceiver production capacity within 180 days.
