S. 5135 — AI Ads Act

This section expands the prohibition on fraudulent misrepresentation of campaign authority to include the use of content generated in whole or in part by artificial intelligence. It applies both to damaging misrepresentations made on behalf of another candidate or political party and to misrepresentations made to solicit contributions or donations.

This section prohibits any person from fraudulently misrepresenting themselves or any committee under their control as speaking or acting for or on behalf of any candidate, political party, or real or fictitious political committee or organization. It extends the same prohibition to fraudulent solicitation of contributions or donations.
