S. 5037 — MediKids Act

This section expands Medicaid eligibility to all individuals under age 26, effective two years after enactment. It requires automatic enrollment at birth for children born on or after that date, with state notification of covered services and an opt-out process if other minimum essential coverage is available. It extends continuous eligibility to age 26 (from 19) and requires states to provide coverage without regard to immigration status. It excludes this coverage from counting as minimum essential coverage for premium tax credit eligibility.
