No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section prohibits connected vehicles from entering the United States if manufactured in, or by entities with more than 15 percent ownership or control by, a covered country (North Korea, China, and others). It creates an exception for non-road vehicles imported solely for testing by qualifying U.S. entities. It authorizes the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in consultation with the Secretary of Commerce, to grant case-by-case entry permits after a national security risk assessment and 60-day congressional review period. It requires publication of an authorized vehicles list by January 1, 2027, and implementing regulations within 90 days, with the prohibition taking effect 30 days after those regulations are issued.
