“Recognizing the importance of protecting continuous Medicaid coverage for individuals undergoing active cancer treatment.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section recognizes that continuity of Medicaid coverage is especially important for individuals undergoing active cancer treatment. It encourages states to use claims and encounter data to proactively identify such beneficiaries, grant medical exemptions from reporting or community engagement requirements without additional patient documentation, permit oncologist certification when needed, provide notice and assistance before any coverage suspension, and adopt similar processes for other chronic illnesses. It encourages the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to issue guidance and technical assistance to states for these procedures.
