H.Res. 1542 — Designating September 2026 as "National Voting Rights Month".

This section designates “National Voting Rights Month.” It encourages all people in the United States to uphold the right to vote, urges Congress to pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2025 to restore and modernize Voting Rights Act of 1965 protections against discriminatory gerrymandering, and encourages opposition to the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. It recommends that public schools and universities develop curricula on voting procedures, the history of voter suppression, and current voting restrictions. It expresses appreciation for the United States Postal Service’s Representative John R. Lewis stamp issued September 19, 2023, and invites Congress to fund public service announcements on election dates, registration deadlines, and voting.
