H.R. 9946 — Equity in STI Testing Act

This section requires Medicare Advantage plans to cover screening tests for HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, and chlamydia (and their administration) as additional preventive services, with cost-sharing limited to original Medicare levels. It adds the same tests as covered Medicaid services, prohibits cost-sharing for them under Medicaid and CHIP, and requires CHIP plans to cover the tests. The Medicare Advantage changes apply to plan years beginning after enactment; the Medicaid and CHIP changes apply to calendar quarters beginning one year after enactment (with exceptions for states needing legislation).
