H.R. 9902 — Federal Naming Standards Act

This section prohibits naming or renaming any Federal building, facility, or program after an elected official or political appointee from the start of their term until 10 years after they leave office. It extends the prohibition for individuals earning more than $1 million annually (adjusted for inflation) from their name, image, or likeness until that threshold ends. It exempts deceased individuals and namings before enactment, requires agency inspectors general to investigate complaints and report findings to the agency head and Congress within 90 days, and permits incidental uses in museum exhibits, archives, and educational materials.
