This section requires the Secretary of Labor to promulgate a regulation within one year directing all group health plans to report in their annual ERISA filing the total number of claims submitted, approved, denied, and appealed; the number of pre-service, post-service, urgent care, inpatient, outpatient, prescription drug, mental health and substance use disorder, and cancer-related claims; the dollar amounts paid and denied; the number not adjudicated on time; the bases for denials; and the number processed with artificial intelligence or automated tools. It exempts plans with 20 or fewer claims in the prescription drug, mental health, or cancer categories from reporting those items, extends the requirements to plans with fewer than 100 participants, and requires simplified reports to include all listed data.
