§2 Fresh Bucks Pilot Program
This section establishes the Fresh Bucks Pilot Program under which the Secretary of Agriculture awards grants to States to provide eligible households with recurring monthly payments of $60 for 30 days to purchase produce from eligible retailers. Households qualify at 80 percent or less of area median income, with SNAP participants deemed eligible through opt-in or auto-enrollment and minimal additional paperwork; States must ensure geographic diversity across five specified regions, prioritize food-insecure communities, limit funds to administrative costs and retailer assistance, consult local organizations, and report data on household food security, fruit and vegetable consumption, and access barriers, with an initial study report due to Congress between 6 and 12 months after enactment.
