H.R. 9381 — AWARE Act

This section establishes findings that artificial intelligence may alter labor market demand by automating or augmenting tasks across industries, and that current Bureau of Labor Statistics programs do not adequately measure employer adoption of AI, worker-level use within jobs, task changes, training needs, hiring effects, or new job titles on a timely basis.

This section expands Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting to include full and complete statistics on the usage of artificial intelligence (as defined in 15 U.S.C. 9401) in labor conditions, products, distribution, and employment data across federal, state, and local government and the manufacturing, mining, construction, agriculture, transportation, utilities, and trade industries. It requires initial collection of these statistics to begin no later than 18 months after enactment.
