H.R. 9377 — Protecting America’s Herds Act

This section establishes a competitive grant program administered by the Secretary of Agriculture to fund cooperative extension services for New World screwworm preparation and response. Grants may support personnel training on identification and treatment, livestock inspections, producer education through workshops and outreach, and direct technical assistance on prevention and biosecurity, with priority for states and Tribal communities at elevated risk. The Secretary must coordinate with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, state officials, veterinarians, and land-grant universities, and such sums as necessary are authorized.
