H.R. 9162 — Protecting America from Chinese Cars Act of 2026

This section prohibits connected vehicles from entering the United States if manufactured in a covered country, including North Korea and China, or if more than 15 percent owned or controlled by entities from such countries. It creates an exception for non-road vehicles imported solely for testing by qualifying U.S. entities, authorizes case-by-case entry upon a national security determination by the Secretary of Commerce with congressional review, requires regulations and a public list of authorized vehicles by January 1, 2027, and takes effect 30 days after those regulations are published.
