H.R. 9048 — Celiac Safety Act of 2026

This section expands the definition of major food allergen to include gluten-containing grain. It defines gluten-containing grain as wheat (any species in the genus Triticum), rye (any species in the genus Secale), or barley (any species in the genus Hordeum), including their crossbred hybrids such as triticale. The change applies only to food introduced or delivered for introduction into interstate commerce on or after the date that is 18 months after enactment.
