H.R. 8875 — Improving Home Dialysis Act of 2026

This section expands Medicare coverage for self-care home dialysis support services to include staff-assisted home dialysis respite care and renal mental health services furnished in a patient’s residence (other than a skilled nursing facility or nursing facility) beginning January 1, 2028. It establishes non-budget-neutral payment adjustments for these services equal to the 2025 home and self-dialysis training add-on amount (or 75 percent of that amount outside rural areas) for respite care, limited to 20 sessions per year, and 50 percent of that amount (or 25 percent outside rural areas) for renal mental health services, limited to 4 sessions in the first 60 days after a patient initiates home dialysis.
