No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section requires the Secretary of Homeland Security, in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and in consultation with Indian tribes, to develop training curricula within 180 days for all Department officers and employees on interacting with enrolled tribal members, identifying and accepting Native American tribal documents as proof of United States citizenship, accessing examples of such documents, and the federal trust responsibility. It mandates that the curricula include region-specific tribal contact information, scenario-based exercises, a document database, pre- and post-assessments, and citizenship history; requires completion of the training annually and upon reassignment to a new region before performing immigration enforcement duties; and directs submission of a report on the curricula to the House and Senate Judiciary, Homeland Security, Natural Resources, and Indian Affairs Committees within one year.
