This section establishes a new nonrefundable tax credit for individuals equal to 30% of qualified expenses paid or incurred, up to $300 per qualified residential food recycling appliance (i.e., an electric appliance installed in the taxpayer's principal residence that preprocesses food waste through dehydration and size reduction to divert it from landfills) placed in service and $120 aggregate for qualified residential organic waste services (i.e., collection of such preprocessed waste from the principal residence for local diversion from landfills). The credit applies to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2025, and terminates for appliances placed in service or services acquired after December 31, 2031. (Thus, no other deduction or credit is allowed for the expenses to the extent of the credit allowed, and the basis of related property is reduced accordingly.)
