H.R. 10732 — No Betting on Your Own Race Act

This section prohibits candidates for Federal office, their spouses, dependent children, and authorized committees from purchasing, selling, acquiring, or holding interests in contracts whose payouts depend on the outcome of their own elections, primaries, caucuses, nominations, or vote shares. It imposes a civil penalty of $10,000 per violation or three times the net financial gain, whichever is greater, and exempts platforms from liability for good-faith compliance or reporting actions.

This section requires the Federal Election Commission to establish and maintain a publicly available, machine-readable list of all federal candidates that includes each candidate’s name, any Commission-assigned identifier, office sought, and dates of candidacy. It directs the Commission to update the list at least weekly at no charge and, in coordination with state and territory election boards, to notify each candidate of the prohibitions and requirements under this Act upon filing for federal office.
