This section requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, within 180 days of enactment, to disclose to covered individuals when the Department uses artificial intelligence to interact with them. Each disclosure must state that the interaction involves an artificial intelligence system rather than a human employee and identify the general purpose of the system. The requirement does not apply to internal uses that assist Department personnel with administrative, analytical, or clerical functions. Covered individuals include veterans, their survivors, dependents, and caregivers, as well as those seeking benefits or services under laws administered by the Secretary.
