This section directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to update the Lethal Means Safety and Suicide Prevention training course within 180 days after enactment, in consultation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services and specified experts, to ensure it is culturally appropriate and reflects best practices, and to update the course annually thereafter. It requires VA employees who regularly interact with veterans, compensation and pension examiners, Vet Center and vocational rehabilitation staff, employees of community care providers, and family caregivers receiving support under section 1720G to complete the most recent version of the training within 90 days of hire or eligibility and at least annually thereafter, and it requires annual public reports on completion rates by category along with public availability of the course.
