H.R. 10401 — No ICE Deaths in the Dark Act of 2026

This section establishes notification, review, reporting, and preservation requirements for covered deaths involving ICE custody. (1) Requires the Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to notify next of kin, the appropriate consulate, the DHS Inspector General, and congressional committees within 24 hours. (2) Mandates an interim public notice within 48 hours and a detainee death report within 30 days, both posted online. (3) Requires a medical mortality review within 60 days and a detention death review within 180 days.
